Got
a question, a rant, or just feel like seeing your letter in print? Forward all questions
& letters to jared@vgf.com.
I have a
couple questions:
1.
How many rumble motors are there in the GCN controller?
2. Whatever hapened to the N64 modem they were coming out with?
3. I keep forgetting, but how far does the WaveBird reach?
Jared
– 1. I believe it has two motors, although I’m not certain about
that. Regardless, I’m sure Nintendo will make sure it’s as good as
other controllers.
2.
If you’re referring to the one that came with the 64DD, obviously
that unit never made it outside of Japan. There was also a third party
working on one sometime ago (Interact perhaps?), but apparently they
wised up and decided not to release it.
3.
Anywhere from 15 to 30 feet. Nintendo has quoted both numbers..

Are
you guys sure that NFL2K2, NBA2K2, and Word Series Baseball are games
coming out for GAMECUBE in the near future. Because that is what says
on the GAMECUBE Release List.
Jared
- We're not sure if they'll be this year's versions or not, but all of
Sega's sports games will eventually make it to the GameCube. The
latest rumor is that NFL2K2 and NBA2K2 will be out this year, but that
hasn't been officially announced yet.

One
game you don't have listed for the Gamecube comings in November is
Metroid Prime, and I THINK that Zelda will come out in November. MP is
rumored to be coming out on Nov. 5, so is Zelda.
Jared
- Metriod Prime is currently on track for a Christmas release next
year. The footage shown at E3 this year was largely FMV (and still
very early), and the game is said to be progressing slower than they
initially thought it would (Raven Blade’s cancellation is proof that
they’re having problems with Metroid development). Zelda doesn't
have any release date thus far, and the footage shown at E3 (Link
battling Ganon) was exactly the same as the footage shown at
Spaceworld 2000. Zelda might make it in time for next Christmas, or it
could slip to as far as 2003.

I got a new
game for you: Dinosaur Planet:Starfox Adventures, yep, that is right,
RARE/NINTENDO changed the game completely and now is the next Starfox
game, it seems cool, cuz it put the Starfox crew againstgiant
dinosaurs with -and I really mean it- VERY BIG WEAPONS.
Jared
– It makes me happy to see such enthusiasm about the game, but we’ve
known about it for a long time now. You’ll find it on our release
list as Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet.

what
the heck r u talking about! if mario fails then zelda and metroidwon't
be important. zelda is a much bettergame then mario. and so is metroid.
yer also fergeting about super smash bros. melee. whichis alot better
then mario. thefirst game to hav evreybodiies favoritecharacters
fightingina big freeforall. link and samus areboth better than him
atthe game!
Roger
- First of all, it's just my opinion. You are allowed to have yours,
and I would appreciate it if you expressed it in a less rash and angry
fashion.
Second, you contradict yourself in your letter. You say "if mario
fails then zelda and metroidwon't be important," which is true.
That's why I put Mario at #1. Then you say "zelda is a much
bettergame then mario. and so is metroid." That may be true, but
that hardly has anything to do with their importance. An F-Zero X
sequel would likely be a great title, but that hardly makes it
important for Gamecube's early success. As for your Smash Brothers
comment, yes, it should be a great game. But you'll notice that the
title of the article was "The
Five Most Important GameCube Titles," not "didi@tir.com's
favorite games"

games for gamecube
Jared
– Uhhh…yeah. If you’re wondering what "TBA" means on
our release list, it simply means "To Be Announced".

I know this
game [Crash Bandicoot for GCN] is already on your release list, but I
believe it isn't planned for Nov. 5.
Jared
– According to Universal, it’s still on track for a November 5th
release date. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it slip to December
though.
