Castlevania
GBA Revealed
September 23, 2000
Konami has taken the wraps off of Akumajo: Circle of the Moon (better known as Castlevania) for GBA, and it's looking very sweet. Gamers.com has a translation of the text found on their Japanese-only website devoted to the game, and it reads:
"The setting is Austria, 1830. Camilla, the sinister witch from previous Castlevania games, has once again resurrected Dracula. Nathan, Hugh, and their sage-like teacher vow to reseal the vile count, but are ultimately defeated. Dracula captures the elderly teacher, and the two young vampire hunters must infiltrate the legendary castle and save their instructor. In classic Castlevania tradition, your main weapon is the vampire killer, a trusty whip. However, this version allows you to customize your whip by collecting various cards throughout the levels."
From these new screenshots, the game looks a lot like a scaled down version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Not a bad game to follow at all. Look for Castlevania to launch along with the GBA in March 2001 in Japan, and most likely it'll make it for the American launch in June 2001 as well.
