On Gamecube
December

In
the latest issue of Japanese magazine Dengeki-Oh, Namco representative Youichi Haraguchi
had this to say about future console development:
"At the very least, until the Xbox and Gamecube are
released, the game market is focused on the PlayStation 2. Compared to the other
two consoles, it has a year head start. That's a very big advantage. Therefore,
from 2001, Namco's consumer business will center on the PS2."
"However, that doesn't mean we won't develop for
platforms other than the PS2. We will go ahead with development for the Xbox and
Gamecube, and we would like to release games for them. Of course part of that is
because we want to see how these new consoles do, but if you develop on multiple
platforms, there's the added benefit of reducing the development costs for each
title."
So
in essence Namco is officially now developing for the Gamecube.
