Namco On Gamecube
December 19, 2000

In the latest issue of Japanese magazine Dengeki-Oh, Namco representative Youichi Haraguchi had this to say about future console development:

"At the very least, until the Xbox and Gamecube are released, the game market is focused on the PlayStation 2. Compared to the other two consoles, it has a year head start. That's a very big advantage. Therefore, from 2001, Namco's consumer business will center on the PS2."

"However, that doesn't mean we won't develop for platforms other than the PS2. We will go ahead with development for the Xbox and Gamecube, and we would like to release games for them. Of course part of that is because we want to see how these new consoles do, but if you develop on multiple platforms, there's the added benefit of reducing the development costs for each title."

So in essence Namco is officially now developing for the Gamecube.  In case you're one of the few people on the planet not familiar with Namco, we've provided links to reviews of their PS2 games below:
