Tops Three Million
February
12, 2001
In
a report filed this past weekend, Reuters reports that Nintendo
expects pre-orders for the GBA to top three million units by March
21st. Unfortunately, Nintendo executive Hiroshi Imanishi
suggested that massive shortages could be on the horizon due to the
overwhelming demand. He was quoted as saying: "It will be
difficult to make more than one million (units) by March
21".
Unlike
the PS2 shortages, this shortage isn't due to any production
problems...Nintendo simply can't keep up with the demand.
Nintendo still plans on shipping 24 million units worldwide in the
coming fiscal year (starting April 1).
