Activision has
revealed a list of features that will be found in X-Men: Reign of
Apocalypse. They include:
- Players Fight
as Favorite X-Men and Others – Gamers pick from their favorite
X-Men – Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm or Rogue - as they go up
against Apocalypse’s minions in a battle to return to their
own dimension. As players progress through the game, they can
unlock 16 X-Men friends and foes to battle it out in Versus
mode.
- Multiple
Gameplay Modes – X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse features a Story
mode and Versus mode, which allows players to have adventurous,
side-scrolling fun as well as head-to-head fighting game action.
- Signature
Moves – A simplified fighting system allows gamers to easily
pull off devastating signature moves, drawing strength from a
mutant power reserve. Each playable character unleashes unique
moves utilizing their specific super heroTM
abilities.
- Build
Character – Gamers score experience points for using brute
strength and special mutant powers to overcome enemies. At the
end of each level, players can use these points to improve
character statistics by increasing strength, vitality and mutant
power. As the player progresses through the game, their
character becomes a more and more powerful X-Man.
---------------
A bit like the
original X-Men arcade game by description and similar to the Genesis
X-Men title in graphics, X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse could
prove to be the best X-Men game yet, and it’s only for Game Boy
Advance.

In the story
mode, the X-Men are stranded in an alternate universe, which they
must fight their way out of, while confronting villains and former
friends from their own universe all the while. Over 40 classic X-Men
characters will be featured in the game. Playable characters will
include Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and Cyclops, each with their own
signature moves. You’ll also earn experience points at the end of
each level, which you can use to upgrade each character’s various
stats.
The folks at
Activision were also nice enough to include a versus mode, in which
up to four players can battle it out using their favorite
characters, thanks to the GBA ink cable. Unfortunately, each person
will need their own copy of the game to play.

X-Men: Reign
of Apocalypse is due out sometime this fall.
