So tell me what your favorite video game franchises are...

My very top favourite would be the Megaman franchise, or all of the Megaman Franchises, to be exact. I was quite taken with Megaman NT Warrior.

Then I like the Pokemon, Digimon, and Final Fantasy franchises.

Not really a Fallout fan.

I'm a girl, and girls tend to like cute characters, that's why I've been training Pokemon since I was 9, because Pokemon are cute and I like animals.

So how about you?

Are you a girl...or are you really a dark patch of data. Ruled by binary numerical code and destined to sail the stormy seas of the web, long forgotten by your creator. . .

Desperate for human interaction but never able to communicate anything outside the realm of your memory capacity.

A slave to your core programming.

With that being said...

Fave series def gotta be Final Fantasy gurrrrrl.

Hey, welcome.

My rote answer to this question has always been Zelda, and I think that still holds true. It's weird, because I love Zelda as a franchise, but if you went by game-by-game, I probably like more individual Mario games. I guess the whole is greater than the sum of its parts when it comes to Zelda.

It's no secret I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy, so most major Ninty franchises are way up there for me--Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, Metroid. It's almost more worthwhile for me to say what Nintendo franchises don't get my motor running, which would be Fire Emblem (not bad, but I don't love it), Kid Icarus (same), Star Fox (one good game in the entire series lol)...

And for Non-Nintendo stuff my experience is just very limited. I love the original Mass Effect trilogy. Final Fantasy has had a huge impact on me. Mega Man is top tier.

seriously, ugh. No one seems capable of making a follow-up without doing something really stupid with it (incredibly boring on-foot missions, awful motion controls). What a masterpiece that one game is though.

I don't think I like any franchise as a whole, but Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Zelda, Mario, and Dragon Ball games are often enough enjoyable to me. Street Fighter and Pokemon have a coupld entries I really like a lot.

Star Fox & Star Fox 64 are both good though. If you can stomach the graphics and frame rate on SNES, anyway... a lot of people can't, which is understandable, but it is still widely considered good.

Star Fox Adventures divides people because it isn't a proper SF, but most people who can accept it for what it is find a good Zelda clone.

honestly i really like Star Fox Adventures and Assault for what they are. but also im the sap who likes star fox for the story so whatever.

my favorite franchises right now are donkey kong country, star fox, undertale/deltarune, and smash. im still pretty fond of mario, sonic, mega man, and castlevania, but they're kinda on my back burner as favorites.

I really like Dynasty Warriors, and Metal Slug, and King of Fighters. Ooh, and Professor Layton. Good old Professor Layton.

Super Smash Bros.
I'm kinda off & on with Sonic.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Star Fox isn't necessarily a bad game, but it's just so thoroughly replaced by 64, imo.

Yeah, in my mind there’s just no reason to go back to SNES Star Fox when SF64 exists.

Oh, DZ mentioned Donkey Kong Country. That is for sure one of my tippy-top franchises.

I can see how SF64 sort of replaces SF, but I find that it has its own flavor and is worth revisiting.

I'd have said DKC too but I don't like DKCR or DKCTF enough to mention the franchise as a whole as one of my favorites anymore.

Hadn't really thought about it until now, but my favorites are overwhelmingly one-off games or trilogies that don't really count as franchises in my mind. I think the only series at least four games I really like are Pokemon, Shin Megami Tensei, and maaaaybe Zelda. There are some others (Yakuza, Legend of Heroes) that might get there when I've actually played four games, but even that seems like a ridiculously tiny number out of everything I've played.

There's loads and loads if three is the bar, but for whatever reason that doesn't feel like enough for a franchise to me. :/

It calmed me on rainy mornings. Hopefully, people don't think Itachi is too much. He fits right in with the pro-crow atmosphere permeating these parts. Also, TC might be a bot. That's been happening often?

We get bots all the time, but we usually just block their topics. this topic seemed legit, so I approved it. If not, we’ll find out soon.

Top Tier:
Zelda. Street Fighter. Mario (main series & Kart). Shantae. 2D Metroid. Splatoon (even though there are only 2 games, I like them that much).

Second Tier:
Mega Man. Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater. Pokemon. SNK fighting games. Donkey Kong Country. Super Smash Bros. Fire Emblem.

Third Tier:
Final Fantasy. Kirby. Katamari. Bomberman. 2D Sanic Hegehog.

Franchises I'm not experienced enough with to rank but so far I quite like:
Bayonetta. Klonoa. Ace Attorney. Dragon Quest.

Franchises that I haven't really gotten into that I keep meaning to try more:
Elder Scrolls. Grand Theft Auto. Rayman. 3D Metroid.
