Finished American Gods. I liked it, though I'd say it takes a lot of patience, as you spend a lot of the book not knowing why anyone is doing what they're doing.

Don't really have another book on deck at the moment. Gotta fix that.

I read 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' on the train ride out to Dakota, and then read 'The Unnoticeables' and 'The Empty Ones' on the way home. Good books, all three.

You're threewaying books? That's too many plotlines for me to follow at once. Your new name is Book Pimp.

'Satan Burger', by Carlton Mellick III.

It was extremely weird, believe it or not.

'Blitzcat', by Robert Westall.

The story of a cat's journey through the Blitz in WWII. It was really good.

I'm not a huge fan of Good Omens by Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman.Took me a while to get through it.

Ironically, I have read work from each of these authors separately and loved them (Discworld is great!). But in here, things fell flat to me. It was like every page they wanted to throw in a million jokes so it was a bunch of misses and a few hits.

I wanted more of the friendship/bromance between Aziraphale and Crowley. The parts with the Antichrist kid were boring af. There didn't seem to be much of a plot until the very end when the Antichrist kid is suddenly like "I know what I'm meant to do" out of nowhere. For almost the entire book he's just hanging out with his friends dicking around. Is this really the book that everyone was crazy about? My book cover has the NY Times call it "The direct descendant to The Hithchiker's Guide to the Galaxy", which I honestly found insulting. Douglas Adams had a waaaaaaaay more sophisticated humor. Good Omens was more like reading adolescent humor.

At any rate, I'm still looking forward to the Amazon series because it seems they added a lot and it looks a lot funnier than what I just read. I also enjoy both David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

So I reread 'Thisby Thestoop and the Black Mountain', in preparation for 'Thisby Thestoop and the Wretched Scrattle' comin out. 'Wretched Scrattle' grabbed me by the short hairs. It got me good.

These are two of my favouritest books ever. I hope they survive.

Gettin way into 'Strangers in Paradise'. Think it might be my favourite comic. Francine and Katchoo are good kids, man.

Well, this has been kind of a slow year for me when it comes to reading. Been too busy with other things. Maybe things will pick up in the second half of the year?

1. Catwoman: When in Rome by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale - 3/5 (Jan 24)
2. Bending Toward Justice by Gary May - 4/5 (Jan 25)
3. The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander - 4/5 (Feb 10)
4. Gerrymandering and Voting Districts editted by Rita Santos - 4/5 (Feb 15)
5. Gerrymandering in America by Anthony J. McGann, et al. - 4/5 (Apr 10)
6. Pterosaurs by Mark P. Witton - 4/5 (Jun 2)

Just read Slaughterhouse 5. First book that ever had me highlighting passages. It sort of has a perspective that is simultaneously detached and really human to point out human absurdities, mostly about war.
